Cardamom, cloves decline on weak demand




New Delhi, Dec 26 (PTI) Cardamom and cloves prices today declined up to Rs 10 per kg in the national capital following fall in demand from local traders and stockists.Increased arrivals from producing belts also supported the fall in prices.

Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold declined in the range of Rs 5-10 to settle at Rs 735-845, Rs 875-880, Rs 890-900 and Rs 920-930 per kg respectively.Cloves prices also traded lower at Rs 265-320 against previous closing of Rs 275-330 per kg.

Marketmen said fall in demand from local traders and stockists against increased arrivals from producing belts led to decline in cardamom and cloves prices at the wholesale kirana market here.Following are today''s quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 8,000-11,500, black pepper common 15,300-15,500, betelnut (kg) 85-100, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 345-350 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 370-425.
